Suhr Custom Antique Guitars

Due to continued requests from customers seeking that old worn-in feel and look in our Custom Classic and Classic T guitars, Suhr Guitars is now offering our new Antique Series Classics and Classic T's through our dealers and distributors as well as direct to consumers straight from the factory. The new Antique Series is collaboration between Suhr Guitars and J Black, the ex-Fender Custom Shop master builder who came up with the aging process concept. J Black will spray the thin nitro-cellulose lacquer finish on the guitars' bodies and necks and apply his proprietary aging process to give it that Antique look and feel.

The Antique guitars can be spec'd out like any other of our Custom Classic and Classic T guitars. You choose the woods, the hardware, the pickups, the neck shape, the fingerboard radius, the type of frets, the SSC option, etc. You don't have to compromise playability and the latest technical innovations such as the Buzz Feiten Tuning System, Plek fret-leveling process, stainless steel frets, compound fingerboard radius and the fabulous SSC technology. You can have that old vintage look and feel along with the utmost in playability and sound quality. Of course, if you want the old vintage specs like a round fingerboard radius and no Buzz Feiten, you can have it that way too! We'll even offer the 21-fret option.

We introduced an Antique Classic and the Antique Classic T at the 2007 NAMM in Anaheim and these guitars were undoubtedly the talk of the show at the Suhr booth. Thin lacquer finish with J Black's painstaking aging process combined with the vaunted Suhr playability, pickups and the SSC technology truly provided the best of all worlds. People could not keep their hands off these guitars. It feels really old and broken in but it plays and sounds like a brand new Suhr Custom guitar. The SSC included in these guitars was the icing on the cake for the tone connoisseurs: great vintage tone without the noise!

You can also specify the degree of the Antiqued look: Light, Medium and Heavy. The two NAMM Antique guitars were lightly aged but still fairly noticeable as can be seen in the photos. We can also try to match a particular aged look if you can provide photos of old guitars.
